Saturday Morning Classes - Classroom / In Person Taught

Saturday Mornings 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

• Intermediate German: Level 1 – Rick Manoff and Brett Siereveld

  This class is designed to help students transition from the beginning track to the more
  advanced classes by expanding their passive and active vocabularies and by reviewing and
  reinforcing what they’ve already learned, namely the most essential elements of basic
  German grammar. The class is team taught so students will have one hour with Rick and
  one hour with Brett. There is no text for this class.
  While not neglecting reading and writing, Rick will focus on oral proficiency, conversation,
  and listening comprehension. Using a variety of drills, dialogs, and group activities from a
  broad spectrum of resources, Rick will guide the students to more confidence when
  conversing in German about everyday topics or when carrying out activities of daily life in a
  German-language setting.
  Brett will also draw from multiple sources to review a broad range of grammar topics,
  including short grammar summaries from a current German publication, supplementing
  the material with additional exercises for the more problematic topics and with readings to
  improve the students’ skills in analyzing German texts. Students will have the opportunity
  to provide input on the topics covered.
  Rick and Brett will notify the class participants which teacher they have for the first hour,
  and the students will switch to the other teacher after Pause.

• Intermediate German: Level 2 – Allan Shropshire

  The goal of this advanced intermediate German course will be to increase student fluency
  in the areas of speaking, listening, and reading. The course book will be available for
  purchase at the school. Students can download proficiency quizzes as well as audio and
  visual materials for off-line access. The instructor will provide students with supplemental
  grammar exercises via email. Students will be encouraged to speak as much German as
  possible; however, the instructor will explain grammar topics in English.
