Beginning Intermediate German – Brett Siereveld (1st hour)
This class is geared to students who have been exposed to the most essential elements of basic German grammar and feel they need to review and reinforce what they’ve learned before moving on to the more advanced classes. This class meets the first hour of instruction (10:00 - 11:00), and students enrolled in this class will attend Deutsch im Alltag in the second hour (see description below). Brett will be using short grammar summaries from a German publication to review a broad range of grammar topics, supplementing the material with additional exercises for the more troublesome topics and with readings to improve the students’ skills in analyzing German texts and to expand their vocabulary.

Advanced Intermediate German – Allan Shropshire
The goal of this advanced intermediate German course will be to increase student fluency in the areas of speaking, listening, and reading. The course book will be available for purchase at the school. Students can download proficiency quizzes as well as audio and visual materials for off-line access. The instructor will provide students with supplemental grammar exercises via email. Students will be encouraged to speak as much German as possible; however, the instructor will explain grammar topics in English.
Note: Students enrolled in this class have the option of attending Allan’s first hour of instruction and then going to Deutsch im Alltag for the second hour.

Deutsch im Alltag - Dr. Renate Sturdevant (2nd hour)
You have been studying German for a while now, you have a pretty good vocabulary (passive anyway), and you have mastered the fundamentals of the grammar— but despite that you don’t feel comfortable or confident when you are conversing in German about everyday topics or carrying out activities of daily life in a German-language setting. Does this sound like you? Then our new “Deutsch im Alltag” class is just what you need!
Knowing that students learn best by practicing and not by being lectured to, Renate will use a variety of hands-on materials and student-centered exercises to help you expand your active practical vocabulary and build your confidence in your “daily life” interactions with German speakers.
This class meets the second hour of instruction (11:30 - 12:30), giving you a choice of classes for the first hour: Ingrid Thomas, Allan Shropshire, or Brett Siereveld. See the descriptions of those classes for additional details to help in your decision.
