Intermediate 1: Kirsten Auch, Melanie Sari and Brett Siereveld
Textbook: Begegnungen B1+
This class is for German learners 17+ who have mastered the basics of the language and have a working understanding of German cultures. Students will dive deeper into grammar and vocabulary while refining and expanding their practical communication skills.
This class consists of two components. All students receive one hour focused on grammar and vocabulary with Brett and one hour honing their speaking and listening skills with Kirsten or Melanie. Registered students will be assigned to a classroom on the first day of classes.
The textbook for this course follows the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for Languages. If you are new to the school or are not sure whether this class is at your level, you can find quick and free online placement tests which use the CEFR to help give you an idea of your level. You can find one on your own or use one linked here on the Goethe Institut or the Deutsche Welle websites. Intermediate B2: Allan Shropshire
Textbook: Kontext B2.2
The goal of this advanced intermediate course will be to increase student fluency in the areas of speaking, listening, and reading. The course book will be available for purchase at the school. Students can download proficiency quizzes as well as audio and visual materials for off-line access. The instructor will provide students with supplemental grammar exercises via email. Students will be encouraged to speak as much German as possible; however, the instructor will explain grammar topics in English.
Textbook Purchase: For your convenience, TSGS is able to offer textbooks for purchase during break (Kaffee Pause) at the beginning of the school only. If you join the class at a later time or during the 2nd semester, please purchase the textbook through a national retailer (i.e. Amazon).
